Check the license

In Arizona, MDs are licensed by the Arizona Medical Board, DOs by the Arizona Board of Osteopathic Examiners in Medicine and Surgery, naturopathic physicians by the Arizona Naturopathic Physicians Medical Board, nurse practitioners by the Arizona State Board of Nursing, and chiropractors by the Arizona State Board of Chiropractic Examiners. Each board offers a public license lookup.

Questions worth asking

What is your training, and what does your license allow you to do? How do you decide which tests to order? How do you work with my other doctors? What does a typical plan cost over the first three months? When would you refer me to a specialist?

Warning signs

Promises of a cure, pressure to buy large supplement packages, advice to stop prescribed medication without involving the prescriber, or reluctance to share credentials.
